Domain Registration Terms
The following terms govern the relationship between the registrant and spotmedia as an authorised registrar for the Egyptian .eg registry.
Eligibility
Egyptian individuals and commercial entities are eligible to register all .eg extensions. Foreign companies may register .eg, .com.eg, .net.eg, and .info.eg exclusively through spotmedia's Foreign Entity Plan with verified international documents.
Registration Process
Requests are submitted exclusively through spotmedia and forwarded to the .eg registry for verification. spotmedia reserves the right to request supporting documents and may decline applications that don't meet the registry's eligibility criteria.
Registrant Obligations
Registrants must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. Any change in ownership, contact details, or legal status must be reported to spotmedia promptly. The registrant is solely responsible for the domain's lawful use.
Prohibited Uses
Domains must not be used for phishing, spam, fraudulent activity, intellectual property infringement, or any content that violates Egyptian law. spotmedia and the registry reserve the right to immediately suspend any domain found in violation.
Suspension & Cancellation
spotmedia may suspend or cancel a domain registration in cases of false registration data, non-payment of fees, violation of usage terms, or a legal order from Egyptian authorities. The registrant will be notified prior to cancellation where applicable.
Renewal & Expiry
spotmedia sends renewal reminders 60 and 30 days before expiry. A 30-day grace period follows expiry during which the domain can be renewed at standard rate. After the grace period, the domain enters redemption and may be permanently deleted.
Domain Transfer
Domain ownership transfers require a written request submitted to spotmedia. Both the current and new registrant must meet eligibility requirements. Transfer fees apply and the process is subject to registry approval, typically completed within 5–7 business days.
Dispute Resolution
All domain disputes are governed by Egyptian law. spotmedia follows the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) and supports WIPO arbitration proceedings. Disputes between registrants and third parties regarding trademarks will be resolved through official arbitration channels.
